Kunst Painting and Sherwin-Williams Revitalize Marin Builders Association Headquarters

At Kunst Painting, community service and craftsmanship go hand in hand. That’s why we were honored to partner with Sherwin-Williams to refresh the Marin Builders Association (MBA) headquarters in San Rafael–an organization with which we have a rich history of support and partnership.

This project was not just another job—it was an opportunity to give back to an organization that has meant so much to us, with Bob Kunst and John Busick both having served as Board Presidents over the years.

Attention to Detail for Lasting Quality

The project started with a thorough power wash to remove dirt, mildew, and chalky residue from the building's stucco. This crucial preparation step ensures the longevity and appearance of the final finish. Our team then used top-quality Sherwin-Williams products to bring out the best in every surface. The metal handrails, which had seen better days, were treated with two coats of rust-inhibitive primer, followed by two layers of a durable direct-to-metal finish. These steps ensure long-lasting protection against wear and the elements.

For the trim, we applied Sherwin-Williams Duration, a high-performance coating known for its durability. On the stucco, we used Sherwin-Williams Emerald Rain Refresh, an advanced exterior paint with self-cleaning technology that keeps surfaces looking fresh by washing away dirt with rain or water contact—minimizing future maintenance needs.

Amazing Work, Driven By Strong Partnerships

Coordinating this project required careful planning around the Marin Builder’s Association’s daily operations and tenants. We worked closely with Rick Wells (CEO) and Christine Puccini (Director of Membership and Business Development) to ensure the work proceeded smoothly, without disrupting business. By painting at optimal times and avoiding direct sunlight, we ensured the best possible application and finish. Our collaboration with Sherwin-Williams, led by Professional Coatings Representative Matthew Lange, was also instrumental in delivering a high-quality result.

Giving Back to Our Community

The refreshed MBA headquarters is a reflection of our dedication to quality and service—both to our clients and our community, who we are immensely proud to support. We can’t wait for more opportunities to combine our passion for painting with our dedication to community service!
