Kunst Painting Collaborates with Sherwin Williams to Revitalize Marin Builders Association Headquarters

Giving back to the community is just as important as the work we do for our clients. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Sherwin Williams and donate our time, expertise, and materials to paint the Marin Builders Association (MBA) headquarters. This project was not only a chance to contribute to a worthy organization but also an opportunity to showcase our commitment to quality and community service.

A Commitment to Excellence

The project began with a thorough power wash of the building to remove dirt, mildew, and chalky stucco. This step ensured the surfaces were clean and ready for the next stages of preparation and painting. Our team took great care in this preparatory phase, knowing that a well-prepared surface is key to a long-lasting and beautiful finish.

Top-Quality Products for a Lasting Finish

For this project, we used only the best products provided by Sherwin Williams to ensure durability and longevity. The metal handrails, which had shown signs of wear and rust, received two full coats of a rust-prohibitive primer followed by two coats of a direct-to-metal finish. This treatment will protect the metal from the elements and keep it looking fresh for many years.

We also used Sherwin Williams Duration on the trim, a product known for its excellent coverage and durability. For the stucco, we applied Sherwin Williams Emerald Rain Refresh, an ultra-durable exterior coating with self-cleaning technology. This innovative paint is formulated so that dirt washes away upon contact with rain or water, keeping the building looking clean with minimal maintenance. The metal roof required an even wash, light sanding, one coat of metal primer, and two coats of finish to ensure a uniform and durable finish.

Coordinating with Marin Builders Association

One of the challenges of this project was coordinating around the building’s tenants and the daily operations of the Marin Builders Association. We worked closely with the MBA staff, including Rick Wells (CEO) and Christine Puccini (Director of Membership and Business Development), to minimize disruption and ensure the project was completed efficiently and effectively. Our team also had to carefully plan the painting schedule to avoid working in direct sunlight, which can affect the application and drying of the paint.

A Successful Collaboration

The completion of this project was a team effort, and we were proud to collaborate with Sherwin Williams and their Professional Coatings Representative, Matthew Lange. The result is a beautifully refreshed Marin Builders Association headquarters that reflects the pride we take in our work and the high standards we uphold.

Grateful for the Opportunity

We are incredibly grateful to the Marin Builders Association for trusting us with this important project and to Sherwin Williams for their generous support. This project was more than just a painting job—it was an opportunity to give back to an organization that does so much for our community.
